TravelNet Technologies Provides Broadband Service Management for one of Canada's largest municipal Wi-fi deployments.
Montreal, Quebec, January 10th, 2006; TravelNet Technologies announced today its participation in Project Chapleau, one of Canada's first wide-scale municipal wireless mesh networks. TravelNet Technologies is deploying its Ubilium managed service solution to provide the access control technology, customized system integration and a variety of "back-end" reporting and management tools to support Chapleau's wireless mesh network.

Project Chapleau is a collaborative effort between Bell Canada and Nortel to evaluate the effect of broadband access technology on rural and remote communities in Canada. TravelNet Technologies' participation in Chapleau includes contributing the essential access control technology to manage and monitor end-user access to this wide-area municipal Wi-Fi deployment.

TravelNet's Ubilium fully manages end-user access and authentication to the Chapleau wireless mesh network through its Plug N Go access controller and backend Service Management Platform. Ubilium technology allows the Chapleau community to securely access the Internet for an array of broadband services including high-speed Internet access and email, a community Web portal offering exclusive Web applications, and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) telephony. TravelNet is also furnishing professional services expertise to both deploy and customize the service management system and offer 2nd level technical support to the community for advanced technical inquires of the service.

TravelNet Technologies will work with the Project Chapleau team over the next 14 months to monitor the municipal Wi-Fi project and provide additional technology support with its Ubilium managed service solution as needed.

Chapleau is the second significant project in which TravelNet's Ubilium solution has provided complimentary managed services to Nortel wireless mesh networks. The Ubilium managed service platform was also used in conjunction with Bell Canada and Nortel services to provide Wi-Fi access at the FINA 2005 aquatic sport championship held in Montreal this past summer. The success of that project made TravelNet a prime candidate to participate in the Chapleau deployment by demonstrating their ability to quickly integrate their technology into service provider networks.
